Counselor Supervision

COUNSELOR SUPERVISION

Why seek Counselor Supervision?

I offer supervision to pre-licenced counselors (LPC)  or new counselors wanting support.  Being a new therapist can be overwhelming, and it is important to feel like you are not alone. I have been in private practice for over 20 years, and have a well rounded, multi therapeutic approach to therapy that includes extensive training and experience using IFS, mindfulness, attachment theory, and Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy. I’m currently applying for a facilitator’s license through Colorado’s Natural Medicine division. This can be an arduous experience, so I’m happy to offer guidance around the licensing process if this kind of work is calling to you!

Common Questions

One of the common questions I get from new therapists sounds something like this: How do you not let the work get you down? How do you not take it home with you? It’s a good question, and the answer of course is that sometimes it does get to me, and sometimes I do take it home. However, more often than not, I don’t. I find that doing this work is actually enriching my life. As therapists, we get the opportunity to be with people in a way that is sacred. We see people at their most vulnerable. We share their lowest lows and their highest highs. We see their wholeness at times when they feel fractured. We get to love them in spite of and because of everything they share with us. And, we also get the opportunity to work on ourselves!

Every session is an opportunity for me to practice compassion, being present, leading with an open heart, and connecting. Sitting with people’s pain often deepens my appreciation for life. It also makes me take care of myself!

If you are wanting support as you settle into your role as a therapist, please reach out. I offer in person as well as virtual supervision sessions.
